So now that red card to Falorin Balogun has been overturned one must look closer at the issues at hand. The game tonight features an irate Belgium squad that is challenging the red card dismissal and frankly I don't blame them. Had FIFA wanted to overturn the red card they should have done that 6 days ago not waited till the day before the match. I guess Mr. Gianni Infantino was too busy jet-setting himslf to 32 matches that he personally attended but, then again he had time, allegedly, to receive a phone call from President Trump requesting that the red card decision be overturned.
Birthright citizenship is something the President of the United States has wanted to eliminate but, hello, Falorin Balogun, was born in the United States so I guess under President Trump's edict Balogun would be kicked off the U.S.A. team for that very reason.
I am aware that Norway's coach has spoken about how the red card decision is a bad, bad, bad, look for the United States and it is. As I stated above the Belgium Football Association is appealing FIFA'S decision on the red card. I think the U.S.A. team should play without Balogun to show the world that our team is gritty and tough and noble. If we advane we will do so with Balogun and not have allowed possible political persuasion to have tainted our waters or reflecting pools again.
You know in 1950 of the 21 men listed on the U.S. roster, of the World Cup which beat mighty England in the opening round of the tournament, 18 of them were playing under the cloak of birthright citizenship and 3 of thm including the Haitian, Joe Gaetjens, had signed letters of intent to become citizens which FIFA did allow at that time.
My father, Max Freimark, was a fullback when he played for the Prospect Unity Soccer Club (PUC) of Brooklyn that won the Premier Division Title in 1942 and I am sure he would want what was best for American soccer. He became a naturalized citizen in McAllister, Oklahoma before going off toe fight for America in WW II. You decide what you think America should do in this situation? Make a comment to this blog.
