What can I say about this debacle!! Belgian team without their ace goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, their leading scorer, Romelu Lukaku still handily win vs. the U.S. The first half was even-handed knotted at 1-1 but in the second half all hell broke loose. Not 1 U.S. defender had an answer for Man City's left winger, Jeremy Doku. It looked like a repeat of the 2022 World Cup, with the Dutch going around our defenders like their legs were implanted in fast-drying cement. Then to add insult to injury Man City supreme midfielder, Kevin De Bruyne even wasn't even that integral to their team effort. However, Dodi Lukebakio hit a brace of deadly shots with extreme accuracy. We were looking for more from U.S. offensive stalwart players, Pulisic, Ream etc. but not to be had. Only Weston McKennie looked in form by getting the goal. Tomorrow vs. Portugal does not portend well.
We will talk about all this and so much more at our April 9 film festival, 4-6, at the Lady of our Lourdes Church in Worcester, MA
